Dance and club music dominated pop in the first half of the 10s, but the comedown was inevitable. EDM remains a major influence, but the storytelling has become bittersweet (“Green Light”), the production jazzier and more spacious (“Attention”). Ravers with boilerplate ‘party all night’ lyrics have been replaced by subjects that are more relatable. “Work From Home” and “New Apartment” are delightfully small, soundtracks for the ephemeral joy of relaxing on a weeknight, or the satisfaction of having a space to call your own.
