Chapter 211: Divided Sky

Folk from around the world, and Phish

This set includes some of America’s folksiest beach-bums alongside sun-soaked folk from Hawaii, New Zealand, Bolivia and the Philippines. Israel Kamakawiwo’ole had a colossal yet delicate voice that could trigger tears with every note, while Luzmila Carpio's trills cling tightly to a beguilingly offbeat rhythm. By the end of the set, you should be in the right headspace for a coruscating extended jam from Phish; it’s easy to scoff at these cheeseballs, until you find yourself at minute 14, flat on your back, swept up in a tidal wave.
