Reggaeton and the broader world of urbano remains one of my big musical blindspots; this scene has exploded in the last few years, and I feel as if I’ve barely scratched the surface. But I do love the urbano standouts collected here, kicking off with the murderous cool of “Ni Una Menos,” through the spacey, Timbaland-esque “Caro” and the galloping dembow “7 Locas,” into the classic, bruising “Gasolina.” Tagging in at the end is a cooing, reggaeton-inspired romance from a star of Nigeria’s growing Afro-pop scene.
