Big Beat: a profoundly stupid name for a genre that is unfortunately pretty apt. Beats just don’t get bigger than the stomping break of “Born Slippy,” with a kick that reaches through subwoofers to punch you in the stomach. “Setting Sun” takes the basic elements of The Beatles’ “Tomorrow Never Knows” and jacks them into the stratosphere. “Lucky Star” has about five million things going on but never loses track of the rhythm. These songs are as audacious as EDM gets; they can get away with outright absurdity because everything is built around planet-sized beats.
